It came from beyond…

Attack of the Killer Heads

In a time of darkness, when Hope seemed to have gone out for a pack of smokes and ended up on a boat to China, when television seemed to have become nothing more than an ad delivery service, when the most flawed candidate in the history of our state seemed like a credible threat, well, in those days the people of Michigan finally got a chance to have their say.

Vote, people, and get your friends, relatives and total strangers to do the same.

Michigan’s future isn’t for sale.

I’m Conservative, Loud & Disappointed … can I have a cookie too?

October 27, 2006

Liberal, Loud & Proud?

As I was floating around on The Google, I realized it had been a long time since I went out and viciously attacked the liberal blog-o-thingee. First, I had to take the edge off my hunger – a Head develops a powerful appetite on the road for Big Bucks – so I decided to find some cookies. Imagine my surprise when an innocent search for “SPRINKLES” led to Liberal Lucy’s Lady Leader Lovefest, a relatively new blog about how we become closer as a community, stronger as a state, and more invested as global players. Closer? Keep your distance: I have a private army and I’m not afraid to use it!

I’ll get back to the cookies but first, Reasons to Say No to Dick and Yes to Jen? These are a bunch of bite-sized (mmm) but well thought out arguments against Dick Devos and for the Gal Governor Jennifer Granholm. Let me refute quickly:

Recipe for DisasterNow back to the cookie thing. Lucy has apparently some sort of degree in Cookieology and has developed an equation of Politics + Cooking = Democracy Cookies. She explains:

Here’s how they work. My friends and co-workers have been alerted that if they show up with an “I Voted” Sticker on November 7th (or promise they filled out an absentee ballot) they get some Democracy Cookies. This is not a bribe, and I’m not asking people to vote for any particular candidate or any particular way on a ballot/millage proposal. This is just a way of saying how much I appreciate people participating in the democracy process by voting, period.

I’m not sure how to respond to this. I feel like I should offer people money or something if they vote but I’m not sure how people going out to vote helps ME. Really, all I want is some of those sprinkles…

I Want YOU to register to vote, Michigan!

October 6, 2006

I Want YOU to register to vote, Michigan!

The candidate formerly known as the Disembodied Head of Dick Devos reminds you not to screw yourself: visit Michigan.gov/vote and make sure you are registered! You can check online and if you’re not registered, they’ll tell you how to register. The deadline to register is Tuesday, October 10th!
Speaking of “screw yourself”, once you get registered, the Devos Campaign would like you to quickly cast your vote by absentee ballot so it will not be tainted by more revelations about what a sick and twisted mess the Republican Party is these days. At least that’s what the Dick Devos Robot Army Caller seemed to be saying when she called last night.

It appears that this issue is a rare case where the Liberals and I can agree.

The Artist formerly known as The Disembodied Head of Dick Devos

October 6, 2006

The Artist formerly known as The Disembodied Head of Dick Devos

Screw DevosGoogle has decided that I am no longer The Disembodied Head of Dick Devos and since they drive about 99.9996% of all non-porn Internet traffic, I have no choice but to surrender.

Henceforth, I shall be known as The Artist Formerly Known as The Disembodied Head of Dick Devos and referred to only by my symbol, which appears to the right.

Michigan, this is what it sounds like when doves cry. Or maybe they sound like this.

October 3, 2006

Below is a bunch of boring stuff where the Disembodied Head of Dick Devos questions his own existence and accuses Google of Bad Things.

The Skinny on the “Debate for Governor 2006”

October 2, 2006

Here’s the details from WKAR about the debate. For clarity, I have magically caused all my catty comments to appear in italics.Debate for Governor, courtesy WKAR

WKAR-TV presents a live, one hour statewide debate between the incumbent Democratic governor Jennifer Granholm (all your problems are her fault) and Republican challenger Dick DeVos (the dashing challenger who will make you forget all about your current problems with exciting NEW problems!). The program airs live on PBS stations throughout Michigan on Monday, October 2, at 8 p.m (that is today for Zack of Pohlitics).

The gubernatorial debate will also be carried by WILX-TV10 and WSYM-TV FOX47 in Lansing, and WJBK FOX2 in Detroit. The Debate for Governor 2006 will be moderated by Michigan senior capitol correspondent Tim Skubick (pictured right attempting to hypnotize a sandwich). Participants for this debate were chosen based on criteria established by the Michigan Public Broadcasting Board of Directors (translation: Greenies, Taxheads & Liberalatarians need not apply!).

The debate will also be available live on 90.5 WKAR. Rick Pluta will anchor Michigan Public Radio Network coverage. (I have no opinion of Rick Pluta as I welded my radio dial to only tune to conservative talk radio!!)

Live Internet Broadcast
Michigan Radio has live broadcasts from their web site and says they will broadcast the debate live on the internet tonight at 8 PM. Out of staters, I expect to see your campaign contributions for this one!

WKAR-TV Rebroadcast
Saturday, October 7, at 6 p.m.

Online
Beginning Tuesday, October 3, the television special will be available for online viewing at WKAR.org, and the MPRN radio coverage will be available as a downloadable podcast.

Live blog
The debate will also feature a live-blog simulcast cage match at MichiganLiberal.com sponsored by Amway in which the Disembodied Head of Dick Devos will engage the entire Michigan Liberal blogosphere in single combat.
